Who we are

Let’s be real here.

The world is on fire.  For most of us, that’s a pretty overwhelming reality to come to terms with, let alone to do anything about. Especially in this constant churn of late stage capitalism where many of us are so tired at the end of the day that all we have energy for is scrolling on our phones for a few minutes before falling asleep. (That is, if we can fall asleep.)

It’s easy for this state of affairs to leave us feeling numb, helpless, and hopeless. Something has got to give.

At Find Your Song, we use music and joy to refuel our spirits.

The joy we cultivate at Find Your Song is not about escapism or spiritual bypassing. It is a skill that helps us fully land in our bodies and hearts, and fuels our spirits so we can face the practical and emotional landscapes of our lives and the world with clear minds, honest eyes, and fuller capacity.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I'm Erinn - Welcome!

I started this work because I believe the world needs it right now, and honestly, I did too. Music has always been my lifeline. So, when my health hit a wall and I had to step away from doing individual work in my clinical counselling practice, I thought about the other parts of my work life - directing a choir, organizing music events, and facilitating group therapy - and the magic that happens in each of these spaces that leads all of us, staff and participants alike, to leave feeling full-hearted and replenished. Find Your Song was conceived when I realized that I could weave together the best parts of each of these.

When I’m not busy with Find Your Song, I’m one third of Good Things Trio. In addition to music and spending time with the amazing people in my life, other things that bring me joy include: cheese, playing in my garden, ocean swimming, finding treasures (...aka sticks, rocks, etc) on the beach, hanging out with horses, snuggling up with a cozy blanket and a good book, and listening to the birds in the morning while I drink my coffee.

Our events are not regular music camps.

Unlike most music camps, our primary goal is not to learn new repertoire, build technical skills, or perform. We may do all of those things, but they are the vehicle, not the outcome. Our events are not therapy either, although they can definitely be therapeutic. Unlike therapy, at Find Your Song events we do not delve into individual deep wounds or traumas. What we will do is learn about our nervous systems and the common patterns they may be stuck in, and through carefully guided musical experiences, our hearts, bodies, and minds will have the opportunity to explore and forge new pathways.

This work is powerful because we combine clinical nervous system knowledge with the inherent human understanding that music is medicine. And we don’t do it in isolation - we do it together. We understand that there are powerful intersections between interpersonal neurobiology, our autonomic nervous systems, joy, and music. Our events are containers at these crossroads that we hold with care, skill, and delight.

What you won't find here is escapism or spiritual bypassing.

We’re not here to plug our ears and pretend the world’s problems don’t exist, or shove down uncomfortable feelings. We’re here to nourish the dried up and exhausted places in your soul so you have the capacity to return to your life with the presence, courage, and aliveness to face whatever is there waiting for you.

What you will find here:

A spirit of curiosity and playfulness.

Skillful and trauma-informed facilitation.

Collective musical exploration that welcomes all levels of experience from shower singers to pros, and is about the journey, not the outcome.
