Good Things Trio is coming to you live in Smithers from the Glenwood Hall! This show will be our celebratory last night in Smithers after teaching our Make A Joyful Sound Workshop, and is sure to be a good time.
Good Things Trio is Ali Romanow, Patti Powell, and Erinn Doncaster - three BC choir directors sharing joy through delicious harmonies, eclectic tunes, and unexpected arrangements. With three voices, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and more, Good Things' music wanders joyfully through folk traditions, jazz standards, original songs, and beloved covers from all over the musical map, from Corsican polyphony to Canadian folk songs and beyond. Good Things Trio is serious about fun: energetic, heartfelt, and occasionally ridiculous. They'll make you laugh, they'll make you cry, they'll make you feel deeply welcomed and so glad you were there. With this crew, good things really do come in threes!

Erinn Doncaster (they/them) is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, group therapist, and music educator known for their grounded and warm approach to facilitating. Founder of Find Your Song, Co-Founder of Fieramente Choir, and one third of Good Things Trio, Erinn works at the intersections of music and the human soul, creating environments and experiences that support students to blossom into the fullest versions of themselves.
Patti has been leading people in song since teenage-hood, and for the last 18 years has founded and directed multiple community choirs, welcoming everyone regardless of ability or experience. Beloved by her choir members for her enthusiasm, warmth, and empowering spirit, Patti is a highly sought after music educator and workshop facilitator.
You might also find Patti singing solos with the City Soul Choir of Vancouver, or in her queer trio Good Things, or hosting outdoor singalongs through the warmer months near Trout Lake. In any spare time (hah!) she teaches guitar and voice, and loves riding her bike and hiking through the woods with her wife Emilie and their dog, Fritz.
Ali is a non-binary music educator located in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island in Canada. Music has been part of their life since childhood, taking them all over the world as both a performer and an educator. It is how they connect with others and has been a constant companion supporting them through life's ups and downs.
Founding Director of the Folk Harmonic Orchestra, Co-Founding Director of Fieramente Choir, Co-Director of Comox Valley Children's Choir, and previous board member of many music societies, Ali is known in the community as a passionate mover and shaker who is dedicated to creating inclusive and joyful musical spaces.
Ali’s main mission as a musical educator is to help build diverse, supportive and safe musical communities for people of all ages and levels of experience. Ali believes we all deserve to play music together, and supports their students to build the skills and confidence to feel comfortable and confident making music with others.
